Let me add a quick note here. dBug use to be 1 of the 10 largest user
groups in the country. It was speculated that at the top we have over
1000 members. But since we didn't change our services for many years,
even taking years to really energize a web site - and to this day still
run most communication through a fitst class BB. And currently
membership is over 300.
Not every group has declined, but many have. It is a serious issue.
And worthy of discussion here.
As to CDs and Ambassadors and getting product and support, it really
comes down to creating a contact and building a relationship. I did
that twice with Brighid and Diane. By having that relationship, I had a
direct access and many opportunities to get into situations where I
could not only help myself, but many others. Think about it. This is
not magic. This is building relationships and using them creatively.
A proposal: As much as leaders here debate, we all share a common idea.
And the upcoming Macworld is more than an opportunity to meet. Even
the UGU may not give all the resources and answers to questions put out
here. What if Jeff had a meeting to address and discuss and brainstorm
about the issues brought up here? What if we could actually come up
with priority list of actions points and work together to make the happen?
Even though I cannot go, I still think this is a golden opportunity at
Macworld SF. Time to move forward. What do you think?
