Gosh I sympathize with the situation.
Several of our members have been talking to me about buying this and that
peripheral for their systems and I am always being the person to point out
that they should probably wait to buy.
Most of us in Charlotte are sold on Handspring Visors. I love mine, but the
product is still not compatible with Mac OS X (unless you are running the
palm desktop in Classic). Because of this issue I started asking one of our
members lots of questions to pull the answer out of him when he asked about
buying a visor. The answer for most thing unfortunately is wait.
Basically for lots of things you have to be very careful at this moment.
Even simple things like joysticks for games are not compatible with Mac OS X
- please someone prove me wrong cause I would love to use a joystick for
some of my games instead of booting into Mac OS 9. Over time this stuff will
become compatible but right now the options are just not their.
In this particular case, is there any way this person can return the
incompatible products?
This is a tough situation and I feel for both you as a MUG leader in Chico
and the person who bought all this stuff and can not do everything they want
to do. I feel its important to tell all of your members to talk to each
other, to research all future purchase and be careful what you buy.
As far as the printer goes, what model is it? With the scanner, most of the
previews of Jaguar show that it will have the interface ability to use some
scanners (hopefully its not a UMAX).
I wish there was more advice that I could give other than Caveat Emptor.
My personal best,
Randy Marshall
