Randy,
When the iMac debuted, Apple did a commercial called "Simplicity shootout"
that featured a 35yro MIS guy vs. Johann, the 7yro boy (Johann was assisted
by brodie, the dog) the object? To get a computer out of the box and on to
the internet.
Johann and the iMac were on in 7 minutes and the 35yro guy and his HP were
out of the box and onto the internet in 37min.
Great ad. And it's still around.
Anyway, the Real People (or switch) ads are great in my opinion despite the
criticism floating around about them. After all.. They're not models,
They're real people across the street. And with some good old fashion
guerilla marketing, our groups stand to grow, big time!
(by the way, if you dig around, Apple Canada had a side by side ad featuring
the apple pc compatibility card)
