Hi,
I have a member who is having their lines at work converted to a
digital phone system. I read somewhere in my documentation that you
should not connect clamshell iBooks' internal 56k modem to a digital
line. Is there a workaround for this? Can it even be done?
It is my understanding that computer modems do not work on digital
phone systems (they can even damage the modem!). The workaround is to
install a separate analog line for the iBook, or install an ethernet
network and hook that up to either a:
-Airport base station (use the modem)
-Broadband modem and DSL/Cable router (add the router so other
computers on the network can access the internet as well)
