Hi Jack
I do enjoy the Switcher videos. And I believe they are accurate
representations of real life
My problem is that the whole promotion seems to be targeted to the personal
/ home computer market.
I'm retired for 7 years but when I was responsible for negotiations of
Corporate Purchase Agreements for a Fortune 5 company, I would NOT have
considered one of the switcher advertisements as a reason to go to my CIO
(or as the CIO) and suggest to the CEO that we should move to Apple's
computers.
The "switcher" advertisements are good but do NOT address the challenge of
the business environment. My belief is that it is trying to address the
individual computer owner challenges. (Perhaps the very small business
owner is a target.)
I hope that Apple has a Corporate Marketing program that leverages the
switcher videos to address the business market. I cry every time I see a
switcher advertisement on CNBC thinking that there is no one from Apple
talking to my company's CIO about the implications of the switcher's story.
Why advertise on CNBC ( or equivalent) with personal computing stories.
Downloading Christmas Photographs is NOT immediately relevant to a Corporate
CIO)
If there is a 2 level program then I believe your MUG community would like
to hear of it's existence. Otherwise I feel that Apple's market is those
who have personal applications and the market will continue to shrink in the
overall market place.
I'm old enough that my current computer will probably be working when I die;
I'd rather that Apple address the business market so that my interactions
with Internet companies not be perplexed when I say I use a Macintosh. More
important, I'd like a reason to buy a new Macintosh in the future.
