Since I have been banging on 10.2.1 for a while and posting solutions on
Macintouch. part of my agreement to get it, I look at your problem,
Bill, and it sets me thinking.
First make sure you reinstall the print driver for the Cannon.
Everything worked on my HP, but the moment I went to print an envelope,
I got blanks. I got the same result in 9. So I ran the setup in both
and got back in business.
As to your Finder crash, I got the whole computer crashing - thought
that would never happen. Tried to launch Techtool Pro 3.7 under Classic
- not supported yet. I then launched 9 and went into Techtool, running
Multitester, including a surface scan. All well and good. I decided to
go and use the Optimization in Techtool. This turned into an all night
affair. When it got down to the single from 7 down digits, it took over
an hour to reduce by one. I went to sleep and woke up to find it done,
but the directory was scattered everywhere. When I looked at the
Directory, it was a mess. So I fixed that too.
I recommend PlusOptimizer and Diskwarrior over Techtool in these two
areas because they work better and get you back much sooner - usually
less than an hour.
I am now going to run a full series of tests to see if it has
restabilized. This complete crash occurred after I did a reinstall of
10.2 over a Retrospect Express full disc restore unbootable HD - I told
you I've been banging very hard. I later learned that you have to set
the time to Greenwich Mean, then Retrospect will install a bootable HD.
Try the above solutions see if any work for you. Let us know how it
turns out. BTW before anyoneone might feel this not the place for this,
these recommendations and experiences are hard tested solutions that
might help everyone here - so I went into a little length. I hope this
helps or at least give some aid when things really go bad in 10.
David
