MARDI GRAS PARTY IN BOSTON, MACWORLD EXPO-STYLE
Any experienced Macworld Expo-goer will tell you that, as good as the
conference tracks and exhibit hall are, they are only part of the reason
to come to Boston next month. There will be plenty of fun after dark at
the 1st Annual Macworld Conference & Expo Attendees Party. The event will
be even more fun because it will be Mardi Gras style, with beads, King
Cakes, and a raffle. Entertainment will be provided by the Macworld All-
Star Band, boasting the likes of Chris Breen, Bob LeVitus, Chuck La
Tournous (a User Group Leadership Conference faculty member), Paul Kent,
Brian Chaffin, Dave Hamilton and more. You can bet that the user group
community will be well represented, so come on out and join the fun.
Tickets are $20 in advance ($30 at the door, if you can get in), so
register early and be at The Big Easy in The Alley, 1 Boylston Place in
Boston on Wednesday night, June 14th to party!

NEW TAKE CONTROL BOOK AVAILABLE THROUGH TIDBITS USER GROUP PROGRAM
The latest addition to the Take Control series of electronic books is now
available to user groups through the TidBITS User Group Program. "Take
Control of Making Music with GarageBand" by Seattle musician Jeff Tolbert
can be used by user groups as a review or raffle item, or as even a
meeting topic. The book provides step-by-step instructions to guide
beginning and intermediate users through using GarageBand's built-in
loops to create two songs, teaching you not only how to use GarageBand's
editing and mixing features but also how to be playful and creative while
composing tunes that please the ear.

TIPS ON AFFORDING MACWORLD CONFERENCE & EXPO FOR STUDENTS OUTLINED IN NEW
RESOURCE
The Apple Campus Group Advisory Board has valuable information for for
students who want to attend Macworld Conference & Expo and the User Group
Leadership Conference (UGLC) in Boston, but may be hesitating because of
the costs: "We knows finances are scarce when you're in school. But that
doesn't mean you can't make it to Boston and hang with other Mac users.
We've put together a document of some ways that you can make the trip to
Macworld happen. If you have any questions feel free to e-mail us at
email@hidden. We can't wait to see you at the show!" The PDF,
"Top Ramen. Easy Mac," includes information on contacts for affordable
housing and travel arrangements, qualification for trip funding,
discounted attendance to UGLC, and connecting with other student attendees.
