As a former Treasurer, I was always very leery of multi-year members in
general, and lifetime memberships in particular. Yes, you get an
infusion of cash up front, but you have to plan carefully to make sure
you can continue to provide services to those members throughout the
term of their membership (and lifetime can be a long time off) with no
additional payments coming in from them.

We have it in our Bylaws to have different membership status', ie:
A. Individual Membership: The full annual dues rate per person; or
B. Family Membership: The full annual dues rate for the first member
and
one-half (1/2) the full annual dues rate thereafter for each
additional member
residing at the same address.
C. Student Dues. 18 years of age or under. One-half of regular Dues.
D. Life Membership: Upon the payment of a one-time amount equal to ten
times
the then current individual Member full annual dues rate, an
individual shall
be designated a Life Member of the Club. A Life Member shall not be
required
to pay any additional annual dues or assessments and shall have all
Individual
membership rights and privileges for as long as the Club shall exist.
