I just wanted folks to know that we're gearing up for a large summer
meeting on June 29th, featuring Microsoft Office 2004 and the most
anticipated part, alternatives to it. We're calling the presentation
"Microsoft or MicroShaft?".
Developers have been very generous in providing me copies of most of the Mac
OS X compatible Office alternatives to showcase at the meeting, and some
developers even gave us a copy to raffle off. We do not have a membership
fee.
I haven't gotten responses from the OpenOSX Office crew yet. There is a
boxed copy of that available (I'm pretty sure I saw it boxed in a Apple
Retail store), but I think it requires X11. It was next to Microsoft Office
2004 (nice product placement, Apple!).

I'm a bit hesitant to show the members something that is too techie, such as
non-Mac OS X native apps such as this, but if someone has compiled it to run
natively, I'd be interested in showing it. If you know about this product,
and have any advice on it, please let me know.
Basic info on our meeting, etc. is here:
