Does your group have a "standard" thank-you gift or procedure for
presenters? Does it differ if the presenter is a member or a special
guest?
Our group doesn't have any logo'd mugs or shirts, mainly because I
haven't yet found a volunteer to handle the assignment of getting them
created. I mention this only because the local PC Users Group does have
a supply of logo'd mugs and they use them as gifts for outside
presenters.
In the past couple of years, I have been lucky enough to find on ebay
and tuck away for just such occurences a number of Timex alarm clocks
which are designed as a miniature version of the early iMac computers.
They were produced for only a very brief period and the story is that
Apple asked Timex to pull them off the market, which I guess they did.
I bought one or two at retail stores but then have only seen them on
ebay.
Now that the original iMac is a bit out of date, there is another ebay
vendor marketing miniature clocks and one of their models is a "gold
plated" (imitation, of course) version of the latest flat panel iMac. I
bought one of them just to check it out, as the price seemed too low
for it to be a quality item. Sure enough, I found it difficult to
adjust the flat panel display into anything resembling a normal
position and then have it stay in place...it wants to fall down. But I
finally found one position that was a fair compromise and we used it as
a present for an Apple Canada rep who came to our meeting last week and
did a GarageBand demo for us. He had received the older iMac Timex
clock last year, and said he is still using it, and was very happy to
get to try out the new flat panel iMac clock. Hope he likes it well
enough to come visit us again next year!!
