Greetings...
We've come to the turning point in time when the
nonprofits and schools no longer want beige Macs --
they're turning them down.
We still have a number of all kinds of older
non-OS/X Macs available plus dozens of monitors
and other accessories left over from setting up
several school labs and dozens of individuals in
our community.
Does anyone still have a "Charity" program in
place to recycle old Macs -- willing to help
out (split?) shipping in order to get the
equipment?
Ideas?
Short of shipping them to undeveloped 3rd worlds,
my only other idea was to line them up, boot them all
with "Good Bye" on the monitor instead of "Hello"
and then video them in slow-mo as the land-fill
bull dozer slowly rolls over crushing them exploding
their monitors.
I have to get them out -- they're monopolizing 1,000
sq ft of my facility.
Other ideas?
Fred
UPDATE:
Many of you have inquired about the GRANTS program, and YES
we're planning to revive it in 2005 so watch the news.
If you'd like to help, or join the advisory committee,
contact me directly.
For those of you who inquired as to where the money went,
since no Macintosh User Groups stepped forward to get grants
for their own communities, we (the foundation) are preparing
to use the money (hopefully by November) to DONATE a new
Mobile iBook Lab along with digital cameras, projectors and
Powerbook network managers to each high school and middle
school in our county. So at least the money is still being
used as it was intended. It'll be fun.
Rockingham County schools are now 100% OS X machines having
added several thousand new iMacs and various other equipment.
