Dear List Members,
We are contemplating starting a program to let our membership vote on
awards to recognize significant contributors to our local Macintosh
community in Austin. Our local alternative newspaper, the Austin
Chronicle, has an annual "Best of Austin" poll that generates a lot of
interest, and awards that are presented to local businesses and services
are proudly displayed by them as evidence of excellence and recognition
by their customers. Our goal is to provide similar recognition to
companies and services that are the best in their field for Mac users.
Our plans are still in formative stages, and I would really like to hear
from other groups that have polled their members to award local businesses.
Specifically, what categories did you use? So far we've come up with:
"Best Place to Buy a New Mac"
"Best Place to get a Used Mac"
"Best Place to get a Mac repaired"
"Best Place to buy Mac software"
"Best Place with wireless internet access"
"Best Mac Consultant"
"Best Internet provider"
"Best Place to Learn About Macs"
"Best Presenter at a CapMac meeting"
Any tips or recommendations you might be able to provide about how you
staged your voting, presented your awards, etc. would be most
appreciated, too!
