If you, your mother or even your 10 year old daughter send a "suggestion" to any large or small corporation; You will receive the exact same response. This is necessary! Let's say, 20 years ago, you sent a letter to Colgate suggesting they produce a toothpaste that whitened. If they hadn't sent a letter with almost exactly the same wording (And they would have), you could now sue them saying that whiting toothpaste was your idea. Or, as a better example, you had sent a letter to Apple 5 years ago suggesting a pocket-sized music player and they didn't send you that letter. Even though they already had the iPod in development, (It was released in October 2001) you didn't know it. You could then turn around and say they stole your idea!
I assure you that she isn't the first 3rd grader to receive a form letter. She isn't the last either. Her parents should have explained the meaning of the letter to her rather than call the news media. The television station should have explained the letter to the parents, rather than make a federal case out of it. I don't feel sorry for the little girl at all. She should have learned a valuable lesson.

Companies that disregard their customers discover the secret to building small businesses; start with large ones and stop listening to customers. One would have though that, given Apple's history, they'd listen to their customers.
