Hi All,
At our User Group way up here in Canada, we have a traditional of
mentioning late in the calendar year that Macworld Expo is coming up,
mentioning which members if any of the club are planning to attend,
and mentioning that interested other members are welcome to talk to
those of us who have gone in the past to learn more about this great
event. Then, AFTER Macworld, usually at the February or even late
January regular meeting, we often have a little presentation focusing
on what went on at Macworld Expo that year.
I was hoping that, this year, we might be able to turn things around
a bit and try to have MORE focus in the Fall months before Macworld
to encourage more of our members to think about making the long trip.
My thinking is that, in order to do this, one really needs to put
together a presentation which focuses not just on Macworld but also
on all sorts of other good reasons why you would enjoy a trip to San
Francisco.
I am bringing this subject up now, in June, because our club does not
hold regular meetings in July and August so the kind of presentation
I would like to do would probably take place at our September or
October meeting, giving people lots of time to make their personal
arrangements once they decide to pursue the goal.
While I am quite willing to include my own personal experiences from
last year in San Francisco, I am rather hoping that I could put
together something that would be largely a video presentation that
just runs by itself. I think I can incorporate some material from the
Internet, as well as some material from the recent PeachPit Press
Meeting-in-a-Box package about Macworld 2006. What I am more
concerned about is where to get material that is related to the San
Francisco area itself as a tourist destination. Once again, there is
an enormous amount of resource information available on the Internet,
but I'd like to come up with some video segments that I could use as
well as perhaps some promotional "goodies" that I could distribute at
such a presentation. So far, I've not come across that sort of material.
In short, what I would REALLY like to see is a Meeting-in-a-Box
package designed to promote User Group Member attendance at Macworld
2007, but for the moment I am assuming that this is not going to
happen and wondering where I might be able to scrounge resource
materials that would let me build my own "meeting box".
So, if anyone out there has any suggestions as to where one might
find some Macworld or San Francisco Tourism video materials that
could be worked into a presentation, or any other suggestions on how
to put together an enticing presentation to be held BEFORE, rather
than AFTER, Macworld, I'm all ears!!! Thanks.
