Hi,
I use FileMaker 7 and what Chuck Joiner described should work. If
everyone doesn't have a copy of FileMaker they could use Excel or
some other spreadsheet program. Make the first row of the
spreadsheet correspond to the fields in your database (ie .. NAME,
ADDRESS, etc...) and then they would fill in each subsequent row with
the member information. If you use Excel you can import the file
directly into your FileMaker database. If they are going to use some
other spreadsheet application then you should have them save the file
as a comma delimited file and FileMaker can import that directly. If
they all have FileMaker and you give them the FileMaker template you
can import their databases directly into your master database. I
would recommend however that the first few times you try this you
make a copy of your master database and test the imports on your copy
first. :) I will add again, I am using FileMaker 7 still but I
doubt they have taken away this basic functionality in 8. :)

1. We now have about 330-350 members. (There are still about 28
unprocessed application forms!)
2. Here's my example: I give my executives a template -- fields all
blank -- and they run home and fill that in with all those membership
data. They each do 25.
3. 4 execs go home and we get 4 new copies of the database. We have
100 new applications.
4. Is there a way to merge the new 100 into the existing 300? Or is
all data like lost?
Hi David,
I'm not a FileMaker guru, but under a worst-case scenario:
As long as your execs don't modify the fields, you should be able to
simply export the data from each of the "other" databases in one of
the
standard formats, then you can import it into your "master" database.
Yes, that's 4 imports and exports, but it is much better than doing
all
the work yourself. ;)
