Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference may be fading in the rearview
mirror but it still has plenty of life as a Mac User Group topic. WWDC
is only one of the topics for the week that features one of the ultimate
Apple celebrities, software vendors and plenty of interesting meeting topics.
Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak will visit a group in California, while
software vendors Smile On My Mac and Christian Pickman of MicroMat will
also make California appearances, Prosoft Engineering will present to a

available-to-mac-user-groups/>
The latest Take Control ebook title covers a subject near and dear to
every user group leader's heart: troubleshooting your Mac. The TidBITS
User Group Program has added this title to the collection available to
registered user groups so that you can get one free copy per group for
review and raffle, and are making it available at a 10% discount to
members of those groups.
In Take Control of Troubleshooting Your Mac, author Joe Kissell
(recently named to the MacTech 25) outlines some methodologies for
diagnosing and repairing almost any Mac-related problems and includes
specific details on repairing 9 of the most common problems Mac users
encounter. (more)

5 - Take Your Group to 2.0: Make It Personal
<http://www.mugcenter.com/take-your-group-to-20-make-it-personal/>
One of the best things about being part of a Mac User Group is the sense
of fellowship and camaraderie that comes with getting together with
people of similar interest and enthusiasm. However, most groups get
together only once a month for a few hours, new members join and group
membership waxes and wanes. As a result, while you probably know the
faces, the names escape you.
A 2.0 User Group leaders should make it a point to try to learn the
names of as many people in the group as possible. Few things make people
feel more welcome than when they are recognized and called by name when
they arrive or leave a meeting, or are called upon during a question and
answer session. It also facilitates the banter that is characteristic of
a a healthy group.
If your group is going to survive, thrive and prosper, then you need to
make it personal. (more)
