Well, as we still don't know when the iPhone will make it to this part
of the world, I don't think we'll be doing anything this summer. But
when it does get here, we'll certainly do an iPhone featured issue of
our newsletter shuffle and we'll also try to arrange some kind of
event with local Mac sellers/stores. Perhaps a demo event at some kind
of venue, or something simpler just hanging out in a store at certain
hours. We've been doing training courses so we may introduce an iPhone
course, depending on what the iPhone is actually like in use.
We're in a tricky situation here when it comes to iPhone. Because a
lot of people from here will buy it as soon as it is out in the US and
use it here. But then Apple IMC ME, as far as we know, is not ready
with any support or service, nor are mobile phone operators. And we
don't even have a date for when it'll be sold here, but there'll be a
lot of people having one. So if service, support and functionality is
not here when they start using it here, that may end up tarnishing
Apple's name and reputation.
Anyway, that's somewhat off topic and just my 2 cents ;-)
Take care
Magnus

Yet again our User Groups see the potential to expand and change. When the
iPod became popular, our group offered meetings on the devices. Yes it did
bring out not only the Mac faithful, but new PC users as well. When we
introduced the Intel Mac, and demoed Boot Camp, again it brought out the PC
users.
So here we are a week away from the iPhone. I was curious how many groups
out there are planning iPhone meetings this summer? It seems like another
great way to bring awareness to our user groups and a great way to draw in
new people. This time it is just not PC users, but now cell phone users as
well.
