It has always been possible to save the purchased Fair-Play songs onto a
CD without
the DRM. In this form the purchaser has a backup of the purchased music
(important
since it's not possible to download a second time for free) but also has
DRM-free
copies of the songs which can be loaded onto any music player.

Over the next few months the iTunes music store will replace DRM music
with DRM-free
files. I'd have to carefully review the announcements but the files may
be AAC rather
than mp3. In any event, the files will be DRM free. As for moving the
files to an
"unauthorized" computer, I believe that shouldn't be a problem.
