Some of you might not like this, but I sometimes feel that it¹s better to
hold the information until people show up at the meeting (or after the
meeting). So that those who don¹t attend regularly might be drawn to the
meeting to find out more. Whereas if they can just click to a web site they
may think ³oh I¹ve seen all I need to see² when in fact they haven¹t
actually seen it in action.
Not that I¹m trying to force a sale pitch on anyone. I just like to get as
many ³bumps on a log² to show up at the meetings as possible.
I agree that presentation notes, or slides, is a good idea for the software
developer to provide to the user group. Anything that lessens my prep time
for a meeting is a good thing.
But the shirts, pens, chockeys are not important to me, or our members.
Your friend should focus on the quality of content and worry about the
marketing frills later on, should they prove to be necessary.
