Here is what I can tell you based on my experience. Of course, the most reputable way is via Apple. They include a one-year warranty. Here are a few options to check out as well. If you check inventory, TekServe has always been a great source/resource for gear.

With that said, I would encourage them to look at an entry level model of a new Mac given the pricing. It will last much longer and do all of the things kids do for gaming, creativity, school, etc.. As students, they can purchase with the Apple Education discount as well.
