Hi,
RE: Macworld Surveys - they send those out to a random number of
people after every show. I get them about every other year or so.
It's normal.
RE: Buying user subscription list -- I don't think that's a good way
to recruit MUG members at all. Way too expensive. If you're insistent
on wanting contact names at Macworld, email me and I can give them to
you.
BUT, wouldn't it make much more sense to use social networking sites
to connect with people in your area who use Macs? Most of my LinkedIn
and FaceBRICK (ok, Book) contacts are Mac users.
Another way -- send a press release to your local papers,
journalists, and writers to let them know you exist, when and where
your meetings are held, and what you do!
SPEAKING OF WHICH... I often root around in user group sites and I
can't TELL YOU how many of them leave off what state they're in, what
town they're in, and other details that folks who don't live in your
house would know! You might want to check your sites as if you're a
stranger and see how secretive some of them seem! (grin)
Hope that helps,
ilene
