Final Cut Pro User Group activity dominates this week's MUG Event Calendar.
In California, ProMAX will discuss storage for video editors, making
video look like film will be covered, and a film that took 30 days from
idea to production wrap will be featured. In Massachusetts, the focus
will be on RED commercial production, and a preview of a new FCP plug-
in. In Colorado, the presentations will feature CAT DV and CalDigit. And
those are just the Final Cut Pro meetings! (more)
2 - The Success of the Final Cut Pro SuperMeetup at South by Southwest

at-south-by-southwest/>
Fresh off the hugely successful Final Cut Pro SuperMeet in San Francisco
in February, organizers Michael Horton and Daniel Berube took their
event to South by Southwest on March 13, and hit another one out of the park.
This one was just a little different - they scheduled a SuperMeetup,
held at MAggie MAe's on E. 6th St., and it did indeed turn out to be
super, with over 450 people attending.
HDSLR filmmaker Philip Bloom and Video Blogger Steve Garfield were
present; Steve did a live video stream interviewing filmmakers, while
Philip shot a music video on stage of Celeste of The Monarchs. Cynthia
Stein of CUTS Austin, the Austin Film Society, Austin Film Meet and
ReelWomen teamed up with them to help make the event a success as well. (more)

boys from ProMAX are going to go through a brief technical history and a
show and tell on Storage for Video Editors Today. Whether you are still
editing on Firewire, have a multi-seat XSAN installation, or are curious
about ISCSI, SSD and Light Peak, you will walk away with something you
can use from this discussion. Storage is a changing.; Larry Jordan
returns and will show some tips and techniques on making your video look
like film. ; Less than 7 weeks ago, three young film makers set
themselves a unique, and grueling, challenge: to make a 90 minute
feature film ,Äì from initial concept to end of production ,Äì in just
30 days.; Marcin Teodoru, Tom Cole, and Aaron Grasso, had no crew, no
budget, and no script, just an intense collective of energy, enthusiasm,
and talent. They managed to rally over 70 industry professionals for the
production and on December 20, 2009, 30 days after announcing the
challenge on their website, they wrapped production on ,ÄúClosure,Äù,
starring Victor Browne, Stephanie Drapeau and Kevin Sizemore. ,ÄúClosure
,Äù, shot on RED, is a dark tale of revenge and redemption. The team is
currently in the middle of editing the feature. They will talk about the
making of the film and show an exclusive clip from the movie.
