05 25 Geekiest Google Doodles
Forever Geek's Robin Parrish was inspired by the recent
Les Paul Doodle. A Doodle is the modification of the Google
logo to celebrate a particular event. In this case, the 96th
birthday of Les Paul. It changed the logo into a playable
guitar.

06 iOS the most secure
Robert Lemos has authored this article in InfoWorld. He
starts off by quoting Charlie Miller, a security consultant
with Accuvant who says about the first iPhone.
"It was so insecure, it was bad. Your Web browser ran as root,
and there was no sandboxing, no DEP, and no ASLR. It was a
hacker's dream."

-------------------------------------------------------------------
07 KIngston Wi-Drive
This device sounds pretty interesting. It provides iOS
users with additional storage space that is available via
Wi-Fi.

08 Label Dispenser
Independent iPhone's app developer, emirBytes announced
today that Label Dispenser 1.0 is available to download in
the Apple's App Store. The app is created specifically for
the iPhone and iPod touch platform, utilizing the touch
interface. The app is also compatible with iPad.

09 Cosmic Ball
Indie developer Chinh Nguyen has just released his
addictive 3D sport game for iPhone, iPod and iPad, Cosmic
Ball 1.0. It is a new sport game which the player plays ball
in open space with stars. The game is similar to basketball
but instead of player touching and throwing ball into the
net, a ball is dropped randomly once from the air. Player
needs to tilt the device to catch the ball and make it
bounce from a special base into one of the two nets.

10 Mailbag of note: Free business templates
Jeff Morrow writes with a potentially valuable link
for those in business :
" Redcort Software is providing free employee timesheet
templates to help workers record their regular hours and
overtime. The templates are available in several popular
document formats, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Apple
Pages, so time cards can be easily customized for any
business."

11 Mailbag of note: International calling
UGNN reader Martin Uttley sent in this lead for those
who need to make international calls ; writing:
"Truphone Local Anywhere is potentially good for people
who live, work or travel abroad. In the US and UK customers
can use a Truphone Local Anywhere SIM in their unlocked
mobile phone and pay local rates, not roaming rates for
calls, texts and, very important for smartphone users, data."
[end quote]
I personally have little experience at this, so cannot really
endorse it. Check it out and let us know how ite goes

12 UGNN does NOT spam you ...
Folks, we realize things change and many times you've
subscribed to a newsletter then later feel you don't want
it. We do NOT subscribe you. You have to subscribe yourself,
so there's no way you could get the newsletter unless you
subscribed to it. Please whitelist the email address above
so we don't get reported as spammers. (A pretty absured
idea, since we were fighting spam since before spam fighting
services exploited the issue!)
If you want off the list, just unsubscribe or
send ME an email. How simple is that ???

- Stephen Kaggwa
"We're so busy watching out for what's just ahead of us
