We have had four of our early adopters and advanced members of our
Gabriola Mac Users Group (GabMUG) upgrade to Lion over of the last
month. All four have had problems, the least of which is the older
PowerPC software not working. At the most severe, one MacBook Pro
freezes every couple of days, and then will not do a software
shutdown. The owner needs to hold the power key every time in order
to shutdown. All of them are working with Apple to try to solve
their issues.
The crux of the problem for most users is that Apple no longer
includes an "archive and install" option in their installer. Apple
will tell you that their installer does an "automated archive and
install." The Lion installer does a search for incompatible stay-
resident software and uninstalls it, but it isn't perfect, and lots
of folks have been suffering from hard-to-pin-down incompatibilities.
Users who updated by doing a clean install by and large have had no
problems at all. However, doing a clean install is a big chore:

For most folks who can't pin down the source of their problems with
Lion, a clean install fixes everything.
One very common problem for Lion upgraders is Adobe Flash. (What a
surprise!) Flash needs to be uninstalled and then updated.
You should uninstall any older versions that you have installed
*first* using Adobe's uninstaller:

uninstall_flash_player_osx.dmg
Then download and install the latest version:
