I don't think that there has been an introduction of a new major
revision of the OS by Apple, or a change to a new technology and a
dropping of the old, where a bunch of users weren't alarmed by the
changes. Cries of Apple not understanding its users, cries of how
Apple should go back to what it did previously, etc. By the time
that the next OS comes around, the previous one becomes sainted in
these same users' eyes.
The reality is that just about everyone that I've talked to has
learned to love Lion once they have become acclimated to it. The
fear that folks have for the changes in Lion have been mostly
unfounded, and it is easily possible to either ignore the new
features or to revert most of the major things back to how they used
to be. (Cries of "Apple's making the Mac OS into the iPad OS are
misplaced.)

Here is a link to a very decent how to video on customizing
features in Lion or reverting some Lion default features to the way
they worked in Snow Leopard.

As for the dropping of Rosetta, that's been a serious problem for
many. Especially AppleWorks, Eudora and Quicken users. If anyone is
still grappling with what to do about finding an alternative for any
of these three programs, or any other program, I've helped a lot of
users with this, and I'd be happy to make some recommendations if you
like.
