The Naples club uses a MacBook Pro for our weekly meetings. It is running OS 10.9.1.
For meetings it is connected via a mini-display to VGA adapter to a projector so the 50 or so members in attendance can see what the moderator / instructor is doing while explaining the actions.
We also use the Reflector software and Airplay so our iDevices can be displayed on the MBPro and thus to the meeting projector screen. I don’t know if the problem described is due to the use of Reflector to mirror an iDevice. I don’t think so
Today and last week I undertook to show the Versions feature of Pages to the members. I went to File / Revert To / Browse All Versions
As soon as I chose that the MBPro screen went black (just a white cursor showing) and I could not control the computer.
The only option that I seemed to have was to force the MBPro to quit by holding down the power button and eventually restarting the computer
I don’t now BUT strongly suspect it is an issue when the MBPro is connected to a projector (2nd screen) so the MBPro screen is mirrored to the projector
There is NO problem when the MBPro is not connected to a mirroring device. Whether Reflector is running or not!
I have NOT tested Time Machine when the MBPro is connected to a mirroring display. I will test the TM performance the next time we have a meeting
Three questions:
1) Has anyone else run Mavericks with a mirrored projector and tried the Versions features of Pages? By the way, I run the Pages ’09 software because the Pages ’13 software is inadequate
2) Has anyone with a dual display situation tried the Versions features of iWork (’09)? Was there a problem
3) If you have worked in the environment of 1 and / or 2 above with no problem; are you using the ’13 versions of the software
Thanks
