01 Safenetting Alerts : FedEX and ReMAX
Among others, this week's Safenetting alerts included examples of

. . . the ReMAX phish is the first of its kind we've
seen, and the cybercrooks have gone to great lengths to make it
believable.

04 Early Episodes of Computer Chronicles
In an article entitled "1985 TV show discusses the Apple Macintosh"
TUAW gives us a reminder in how far we have come since the introduction
of the Macintosh. The article talks about the TV show Computer
Chronicles which ran from 1981 until 2002, I believe on PBS stations.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
05 OS X: Create Shortcuts to Email Text
This article on The Mac Observer talks about one of the least
used Macintosh features, Services. I have used Services in the
past to Summarize text. But this one is about using
Services to start eMails.

11 Careful what you wish for . . .
UGNN friend and contributor at large, Gary Kampel recommended a
Free Stock Footage Downloads site -- claiming to get 7 days of
completely free downloads of stock video, looping backgrounds,
production music, sound effects and more
. . . but then everyone's friend and UG Pundit from Boston,
Ilene Hoffman said :
"I would NOT recommend this offer. They've offered this before and
I downloaded 2 things and next thing I knew - $80 charge on my
credit card. Do NOT believe that this is really a free offer.
It was a serious PIA for me."
-------------------------------------------------------------------
12 Former Advisory Board Member reports
Guy Kawasaki, former UGN and MNN Advisory Board Member writes :
"... thanks to new research at the University of Georgia, we might
soon have an antidote for too much CO2: a manmade version of the
microbe Pyrococcus furiosus, or "rushing fireball," that absorbs
CO2 and converts it into fuel. If P. furiosus can work on a
large enough scale, it might even help displace carbon-positive
fossil fuels like coal and oil.

He has half the deed done who has made a beginning.
--Horace

You don't have to see the whole staircase,
just take the first step.
