01 CAUTION ALERT
Unfortunately, we've come to the point where just about ALL of the sites purveying news are spam sites -- some fare worse than others -- with the probablilty of purveying malware or ransomware! ALL of the sites with cyber news unfortunately include stalker links, predators and possible click-wear. Be very careful what you click!
LOOK FOR the Firefox 'READER' icon in the address window to read the articles without the risks!

02 CyberSecurity Update: Mac Adware, DDoS attacks, Pirates, Botnet and more!
We thought that the deluge of spam and attacks had curved off a bit, and it may very well have. But news from the fronts are telling us the worse is yet to come. Each year, we face all kinds of threats around tax time -- but this year it looks like it's going to be the busiest yet!

03 Important: Flipboard Serves Potentially Malicious Ads
Kirk McElhearn writes :
I have used the free Flipboard for several years to read the news on my iPhone and iPad. Yesterday, I came across a malicious ad in the Flipboard app.

04 FBI : Warnings of Dramatic Increase in Business E-Mail Scams
FBI officials are warning potential victims of a dramatic rise in the business e-mail compromise scam or "B.E.C.," a scheme that targets businesses and has resulted in massive financial losses in Phoenix and other cities.

06 Macintosh OS X Slowdown Solutions
Apple Solutions -- Randy B. Singer has been on a number of mailing lists that I subscribe to for a long time. I've never seen him steer a member wrong. He states that
".... It seems like barely a week goes by without me hearing about a user whose Macintosh has suddenly slowed to a crawl. I've helped a number of users troubleshoot the problem, and it turns out that the problem isn't caused by just one thing. To help users whose Macs have suddenly slowed down, I've created a Web page that lists a number of troubleshooting steps that they can take to address the most likely causes of their slowdown."

07 How To Remove Flash On The Mac
With the MUG Musings article on "24 more good reasons to NOT use Flash", this seems an appropriate article. Peter Cohen states:
"Word has emerged about a 'ransomware' exploit involving Adobe Flash. Adobe has responded with an update. The ransomware exploit is, for now, limited to users of Windows, but the update has been made to all supported platforms, so it's an update to essential Flash code, not just something Windows-ish. This illustrates that you need to be very careful about what you keep on your computer, and that you may want to periodically rethink the software you have installed.

09 My View : The Netflix Verizon neutrality farce
The Netflix Verizon neutrality farce Last year our Verizon service slowed to a snail's pace when accessing Netflix streaming content. Verizon had promised 5mps, and it was usually pretty snappy. But Netflix moview would churn and churn as we watched the speed counter go to 2, then 1.8, then 1.4, and then time out with spinning "buffering" icon. We'd see a few seconds of video, then spinning buffer, then 20 seconds of video, and spinning buffer. It got to the point that we would give up.

10 Apple redefines 40
Apple, as it turns 40 on April 1, deserves more than its share of cake. It's earned all 40 candles." Michelle Quinn of the Mercury News, looks at the 40 years of Apple and how they were successful.
It seems that it has to do with Luck, Vision, Eco-System, and Fanboys, (Including user groups.)

11 BrowserFreedom 1.1.3
Guilherme Rambo, a Mac developer, has announce the released of BrowserFreedom 1.1.2 for OS X. Since its launch, BrowserHub got a lot of attention because It solves a simple yet frustrating problem for many users: the management of multiple web browsers on OS X. Due to trademark issues, the app is now rechristened from BrowserHub to BrowserFreedom. Version 1.1.2 fixes a crash that would occur when launching the app, and a new feature called "URL expander" which allows the user to copy the original URL from a shortened link.

12 Log into Apple's Twitter account ... tweet the news
Apple Twitter Apple has launched an Apple News Twitter account, which lets you follow Apple's top stories as well as other content from vrious publishers, curated by Apple's U.S. editors.
You can read the links in web browsers most of the time, and there are other interesting tweets. I see there's a 'Tweet to Apple' button, so maybe it will be two-way?

13 How Apple is grooming the iPad to take over the Mac
As Apple's first truly new tablet in years, the iPad Pro is every bit the beast it was rumored to be. Built around a gorgeous 12.9-inch screen, it doesn't skimp on the pixels or the power. With its eye-popping 2732-by-2048 resolution and the cutting-edge A9X chip, the big iPad Pro drew a clear line in the sand between it and the Air. As Steve Jobs might have said, it was a screamer.
Thank you Del Missier for sending this one in!

14 60-Seconds #331 : Somebody asks when should software be a subscription service?
Apple reached into my iPhone and removed software. I did not realize this had happened until I wanted to stream my favorite channel. I was a little more than upset because I had come to really like Apple Radio and had two dozen great radio stations. But I really have no room to complaint, I didn't pay for the service or the app. However, I wonder what they would say if I reached into their computer system and removed software they had come to depend on?
