Hi to All!
Let me share with some expression I got from exhibition that took place here in
Moscow recently.
I think it's the biggest polygraphic exhibition in Russia. But I should say that
color management is not strong at it and I think all over Russia too. And even
more a lot of people heard about it, but don't think that this technology is
workable. I didn't find any firm or person who knows quite enough to provide
qualified service here. At the same time there are a lot of hi-class measuring
devices like Gretag's Spectrolino, SPM and so on. It is very sad that a lot of
well known firms like Gretag, X-Rite, Imation, Heidelberg do not offer any
training or service on color management in Russia. Sorry for off topic.
I would appreciate if you could answer on some questions.
I'm trying to profile my Tango drum scanner for transparencies and got some
difficulties with it. As you know it woks under Linocolor and there is an option
to save raw RGB scan. As I found out it inserts TIFFRGB working space into this
raw scan. Is it suitable RGB space for such scan? If I do profile this way all my
scans after profiling looks dark in gradation. If I tweak the raw scan it becomes
better, but still not perfect. I'm asking this question, because I profile Topaz
II w/o any tricks and got just excellent profile. All profiles were done in
Profile Maker 3.1.1.
Could you please explain me why I should change gradation for Transparencies and
not for Reflections?
One question for Henrik. If I'm not wrong he is a big fan of Profile Maker.
Trying to build profile for Reflection I noticed that PM does good contrast in
image, but kills shadow details. Is it possible to fix it? I got the profile from
the same raw scan and reference file and built by ColorBlind which is lack of
this problems.
Thanks in advance.
