Hi Diana-
The minimum printer for consistent results is the 4000- any 1*** or 2***
series printer does not have consistent color- you have to keep on
reprofiling.
If you limit yourself to epson papers, you can get the 4000 with the
ColorBurst LE rip used on eBay.
Otherwise, you could get the full Colorburst Rip for about $7-800.
Finally, to limit up-front costs, consider getting prints done by a
qualified fine-art printer. I make prints from customer supplied finished
files for $15-$20/sq.ft (depending on size and number of prints).
When comparing your choices, consider the up-front costs, but also consider
the value of your time learning how to make great prints, and the time
necessary to keep up with the technology. Some people want to spend their
time and energy taking great photos; others want to shoot and make great
prints.
