Hi,
no these profiles are based on the ISO 12647-2:2004 standards.
And these standards are (also) based on the ISO 2846-1 standard for
offset inks.
Gracol and SWOP indicate that their standards are based on ISO 2846,
however, most printers (in the US) don't know to what standard their
inks comply.
Well said, Henk!
ISO 2846-1 that defines standard offset inks was derived of 4 documents:
1) Studies of the European Council of the Paint, Printing Ink and
Artistsā Colours Industry (CEPE)
and their norms later known as Euroscale
2) Specifications for Web-Offset-Publications (SWOP) in colaboration
with the National Association of Printing Ink Manufacturers (NAPIM)
3) A study of the Japan printing association and printing ink
manufactures based on the 8 biggest printing ink manufactures.
4) A study of the german FOGRA based on the 7 biggest printing ink
manufactures.
So it's a worldwide game we talk about here.
(Sorry, I had to translate that from german to english, not that easy
as these norms are not easy as well)
