In version 3.7 of Capture One Pro there is a profile selection called "No Color Correction" on the Mac, on the PC you can simply "check" "No Color Management". This should be the selection when processing out whichever raw target capture being used by your profiling software. ****Especially ****with Phase One software you need to be "extra" cautious since several of their "supplied" profiles contain proprietary tags being used as flags to trigger special developing routines (shame, shame) in their software to fix limitations in their own color processing. The only way to avoid these flags when making your own profile is to use the "No Color Correction" option. As a sidebar, For those of you on the mac, Open any of Phase One profiles in the Colorsync utility and you will also notice the pre-edit which leads to the flattening of tonality which many have criticized.
Since on the topic, custom profile friendly raw convertor applications are: C1 Pro, Raw Shooter, DPP (Canon), Nikon Capture, Kodak (not sure if anyone is still using that). There are likely some others. (currently praying for this feature to be added to APERTURE!). I agree that some are easier to implement than others. Neither Nikon or Canon software will allow you to load your custom profile into their apps yet since they only "embed" srgb or adobe rgb they are still friendly to profiling through them. In this case you can simply load or "assign" your new custom profile once you are in Photoshop with the final tiff or jpeg.
I hope this helps. Should anyone need any further information, please feel free to contact me offlist.
