My
testing has shown that with Nikon D70 the embedded modes sRGB and Adobe 1998
are the result of conversions through a default generic input renderingif you
use Nikon Image Capture Editor for the raw conversion. If you dont the conversion to the
pre-designated workspace does not occur.
Therefore in order to produce an untagged tif file I am looking for a RAW
converter that doesnt colour manage, (that is, that doesnt convert to a
predetermined workspace through a default generic profile.
)
I
processed three identical Gretag files, each a different Nikon Colour Mode,
through Phase One using "no colour correction". The files arent
really untagged, they are tagged with a profile named Phase One no colour
correction which,
when stripped off in Photoshop with sRGB as a default RGB space produced no
colour change. For me this meant
that the files has been converted (encoded) into sRGB because the data was
obviously in sRGB numbers and not Nikon D-70 numbers. What else could
possibly explain how the file aquired sRGB numbers?
