And yet the way in which profiles for digital camera are created, by and large treats them as such devices. It assumes that the gamut of a target matches the scenes we will capture. It assumes the illuminant is fixed.
Assume nothing, you are making yet another attempt to redirect what we are saying here. This isnt and ACR dialog. A profile properly made is not locked to a scene. You have gray balance tools to to control your implied intent. The chips in cameras today have much greater dynamic range to employ these techniques with a high degree of success.
Both assumptions make sense for scanners but not cameras. Then, as the various posts have discussed, we have the RAW converter. There needs to be a better way to define the camera’s capture.
Not true again. RAW convertor can either be a compliment to the cms process or a hinderance. You decide which ones fall on which side of this comment.
