Considering that the process relies on you seeing some kind of image and
making adjustments, you need to be sure the preview portion of the profile
is up to par. So if you have to edit both tables, nail the soft proof first.
Some profile editors do both tables at the same time. I find that
problematic. It's rare you need to edit both (usually one or the other),
hardly ever both the same way.
I also prefer to always do profile editing with OPM (Other People's Media)
<g>. I find that I can spend hours and sheets of output trying to tweak
another 1% out of the profile. So it's both time consuming and potentially
expensive. Remote profile editing is almost impossible!
The times I find I go for the editor (usually the Kodak editor inside of
Photoshop) is when doing cross rendering. The next situation would be a fix
for the soft proofing portion of the profile.
