Hi Marco,
yes, this procedure performs always an absolute conversion. It works
for any type of output profile (RGB, CMYK, Multi-Color). The 'Viewing
Light Source' option is disabled, because it requires spectral data.
You can find this information in the chapter 'Generating an Output
Profile' in the PM5 Online Help.
Saving the recalculated measurement data is not possible within PM5
but you can open the resulting ICC profile with ColorLab. This will
automatically extract the measurement and reference data, which can
be saved then as .txt file.
Best regards,
Liane

the same procedure like you do in ColorLab would be applied
automatically, when doing the following in the PM5 Printer wizard:
- Select a desired chart, e.g. ECI2002, in menu 'Reference'
- Select the desired ICC profile in menu 'Sample/Import ICC profile...'
The previously selected chart will now be converted to LAB (abs.) and
the resulting data will be used as 'measurement data'.
Thank you very much, Liane. This one is a big time-saver.
It amazes me how much about ProfileMaker is still unknown to so many, myself
included. Is this technique documented in the PM5 help file? (I was unable
to find it.)
Does this procedure *always* perform the conversion using the absolute
colorimetric intent? How do I check the converted values? (There doesn't
seem to be a "Save" command to export the converted testchart values.)
One final point: with this technique, the "Viewing Light Source" pull-down
menu is inaccessible and grayed out. Is that how it should be?
Regards.
