Which also means that the colors in the file will have an incorrect
appearance assigned to them. Simply put, the colors will look wrong.

Then your RIP is only acting as a means to linearize and ink-limit the
output, correct? In which case, where is the color management occurring,
since neither the application nor the RIP are performing it? At the
PostScript level, with CSAs and CRDs? Honestly, I've never quite grasped how
that happens, and how one controls its results.
