Can't help you, but I can confirm that, on a Mac running 10.6.8, the linearization software doesn't work for any paper apart from Epson photo papers.
I flagged this to Epson UK on Wednesday and haven't had any meaningful response since they asked me to reinstall the software and it still didn't work.
If you've got a Windows machine then you'll be OK because that works as expected -- apart from NOT supporting linearization of Velvet Art papers (which is what we wanted to linearize on our 9900).
ISTR that the older SpectroProofer software did work as expected. The software is a bit of an ugly mess if you take a look at what's inside the packageā¦
