I've been giving a talk to local groups here in Boulder about color in general and ICC profiles in particular. I discuss what color is and isn't, and then the history of the CIE, covering the CIE color spaces, etc. Because they are mostly PC-centric groups I give them a dose of reality by talking about Steve Jobs impact, beginning with his great interest in typography and fonts, and his impact on the design of the original Mac, and the ground-breaking work by Bill Atkinson (fat bits, marching ants, etc.)
I go into the early relationship between Apple and Adobe (Adobe shipping the first postscript license and the first version of Photoshop to Apple. the laserwriter and DTP). When I get to ColorSync, though I can't find any history except that Apple pioneered the CMM and the ColorSync consortium which morphed into the ICC.
I'm curious about the early history: who pushed for the development of ColorSync, who was instrumental in its development, and how the ColorSync consortium became the ICC, and any other nuggets. Apple was the groundbreaker and deserves the credit.
Any help/info would be appreciated.
TIA, Vince Heuring
