Pantone Color Manager (PCM) does not seem to measure ambient light with any instrument. You must go into i1Profiler, make a custom measurement with an i1Pro, save it, then launch PCM. The custom measurement will appear in the Lighting menu.
This is mentioned on page 16 in the PCM User Manual in the "Quick Tip". There is no manual for i1Profiler. I found the Lighting tool by clicking on either the "Profiling" or "OBC Profiling" options under the "Workflow selection:" heading in the "Workflow Selector". Then click on the Lighting tool icon in the "Printer Profiling Workflow" toolbar below the "Patch Set" display.
