Apple does not, as a rule, announce its plans for future products, and they will definitely not discuss them on a mailing list, until those plans are public.
product roadmap anyone?
for ~$100 ...
used, headless PC (~300 MHz)
3 100bT ethernet cards/ports (to set up as a transparent bridge, with a mgmt interface)
any flavor of Linux or BSD
fwbuilder
your choice of ipfw2, pf, iptables, ipf ... as either kernel mods or extensions
IDS tools galore (snort, branyard, acid, etc.) ...
and you have a very flexible, remotely configurable, standalone, enterprise class firewall/gateway box
beating this dead horse is a waste of time ... apple will announce *what* they choose if/when they choose, and not include you in the discussion ...
