I know that this is rather off-topic for this list, but I didn't find
an Apple mailing list that seemed more appropriate.
Is there a way to enable video mirroring on my MacBook Pro via an ssh
login? Perhaps by editing a preference file in vi?
Or is there an API that I can access by writing a program that I can
run at the command line?
The reason I need this is that I dropped my laptop, and now the
internal video doesn't work anymore. I won't be able to afford the
repair for some time. But I have found that the unit otherwise works
OK - I can log in via SSH and access files via AppleShare. Also the
video card itself is still working: if I plug in an external monitor,
I get the desktop.
But I don't get the dock or the menu bar.
Another possibility would be to change the screen that the dock and
menu bar appear on, without enabling mirroring. If I could get that
far, then I could enable mirroring the usual way.
I do have another Mac, but it's a 300 MHz Blue and White G3. OS X
runs on it, but so slowly that it's unpleasant to use. I'd like to
use the line-in port on my MacBook Pro to record my electric piano. I
understand that the port can digitize audio at 24 bits and 192 kHz. I
hope to use it to participate in the RPM Challenge
(http://www.rpmchallenge.com/).
Thanks for any help you can give me.
Mike
