I'm new to the list, so first a frienly hello to all.
I have an SCM SCR241 and 243 that I am trying to use with my Powerbook
17". Before I installed any of the SCM drivers, I popped the card in
and it recognized it. I installed the CAC package on CD3 of OSX
10.3. I then installed the SCR-24x package from SCM. No matter what
I've tried, the reader never sees a card in it. It acts as though the
reader pakage loaded fine (at boot-up I can either insert a CAC to
login or used login/pw), but I think I've missed something in the
setup. I also have a USB reader (SCR301) but I have the same results
when using it. Any ideas are greatly appreciated. I'm sure the
problem is simply ignorance on my part as this is the first time I've
used a CAC on OSX. Since all of the machines I use except 1 are
either OS X, Solaris or Linux, I'd REALLY like to get this working.

Egon,
What you still need to do is enable the Smart Card Service (which are
off by default) and then bind the card to your account. This and all
related info is in the Smart Card Setup and Configuration Guide for Mac
OS X 10.3 -- which I have had in Draft form for a while and hope to
make available to everyone maybe before next week begins.

A draft version of the guide is available via my personal iDisk at:
