Carvel,
Search the list archives for messages from Shawn Geddis. He has covered

John,
I would agree with your point and Apple did announce and make things
quite clear at WWDC that Tiger will support "Smart Cards as
Keychains".
This means that hardware tokens like Smart Cards will be completely
abstracted in the OS as Keychains which are in turn completely
accessible and leveraged for OS-Wide PKI (Certificate Use). You
already have seamless, transparent method of digitally signing and
encrypting/decrypting messages from within Apple Mail using Soft
Certs.
"Smart Cards as Keychains" opens up the floodgates for numerous
applications and uses. Take a moment and think about a few other
tasks
in your daily life that could be simplified or better protected thru
the use of Smart Card type support integrated into the OS.

I am sure this one has come up before but I am fairly new to the list

Does Safari work with PKI (I have heard no) and if not, will it? I
like Safari much better than Firefox but there are some sites I need
to get to with PKI once I permanently stop depending on my Microsoft
boat anchor.
