The slowness lately has been related to the software being loaded into production. The developers are working very diligently to correct the issues.
We actually have pretty good support for Mac issues as there are several staunch Mac users in the AKO management ranks. (HOOAH!)
Relative to speed, by hitting http://www.Army.mil (AHP) when you suspect network slowness to AKO, you will be able to gauge the response and partially determine the cause. The speed matrix:
AHP AKO Condition
fast slow AKO problems
moderate slow Network problems likely
slow slow or times out Network problems definite
fast quick the AKO version 3 hump is over!
slow fast shake your self awake, you are having a bad dream :-)
... after all Army Home Page
is on Macintosh and is engineered by overly competitive Mac geeks.
(it is Sunday, I cannot be serious all of the time!)
More seriously though, please relay the browser of choice (name, version, URL for D/L) and I will make sure it gets installed on the test AKO Mac workstation. I cannot guarantee that all browsers will be fully supported but we can at least attempt to provide the best possible environment for reproduction of the issues. We work hardest on Safari which frequently brings compatibility elsewhere.
Respectfully,

Are you using NS 7.2?
I recently upgraded to 7.2; I think there may be a bug in the disk cache routine in that version.
I've noticed it always goes back to the cache instead of loading new, even if I haven't been to (any give) site in several days.
for example, on a visit to NOAA yesterday, NS 7.2 gave me last Fridays hurricane track chart from the cache instead of today chart. NS 7.2 has exhibited similar behavior with a variety of other sites as well.
I've tried all 4 settings for cache - compare, never, always, and out of date.
Doesn't matter what I select, I always get the cached page.
Last time I was on the AKO site, I didn't have the problem you describe, but I was using NS 7.1 at the time.

Hi List,
I noticed today that when I log on to AKO using Netscape, I have to hit the reload button for the page displayed after typing in my user ID and password.
Anyone else having this problem?
Regards,
Dave
