As one who has experienced this and similar problems, be careful. My
boss actually was trying to convert his file vault back to a regular
home dir and with CAC services enabled and in use he actually ended up
losing some of his files for a while. Turning off CAC and then
attempting the conversion again put everything back in place.
I imagine with the 10.4 integration of Smart Cards into the keychain
this will be a non-issue then.

Yesterday my sysadmin plunked a shiny new CAC reader on my desk. With
Shawn's help I got everything hooked up and working, can use it to
log in and to decrypt and sign emails. But there's a problem: I use
FileVault to encrypt my home directory (the machine is a PowerBook),
and when CAC services are enabled, the login process does not mount
the encrypted home directory volume by default; I have to mount it
manually. Has anyone else seen this problem? Is there a fix?
Thanks,
