You can't use your CAC with Entourage in Panther. You can do it on
Tiger (OS X 10.4 which will be released on 29 April). You can use your
CAC with Netscape/Mozilla/Firefox on Panther (OS X 10.3) today. Full
details located at:
As the author of the "Smart Card Configuration and Setup Guide for Mac
OS X 10.3", I should probably just repost the quick links to get to it
on my iDisk. Keep in mind that this is for Mac OS X 10.3.x only and
coming in Mac OS X 10.4 it is drastically improved with almost no
expended effort by user and admin. I will be updating the Guide and
posting that one as well.

One area I would like to add or expand on in the future is a section
specifically references Federal Government Smart Card -- Directory
Services setup guidance. This would ease the learning curve for many
who need to make minor config changes to work in their specific
environments -- ie, AD. This would also make sense in being available
in script/installer format for easy deployment.
If you have an immediate need for any specific Smart Card Reader
Driver, please do not hesitate to contact me directly in the interim.

I was hoping someone here could provide some insight on using CAC with
Microsoft Entourage 2004. I have successfully set up the Apple CAC
package
on our Jaguar and Panther platforms and can view cards using the Common
Access Card Viewer in the Utilities folder.
However, I am unsure as to the remainder of the process - namely
exporting
the certificates for use in Entourage 2004 and using the CAC for
signing and
encipherment with S/MIME. Also, emails that are sent to Entourage 2004
users that are digitally signed show up blank with a single attachment
that
has the extension p7m. I cannot figure out how to make these readable
appropriately.
If anyone here can give me some direction or at least a few hints on
the
process as I have been unable to locate the necessary documentation
for this
process. Your help will be greatly appreciated.
