This is probably aimed directly at Shaun Geddis since he has the best
knowledge regarding CAC readers and OS X. I have successfully installed
my USB reader on my G4 (upgraded) Pismo running X.3.9. The really
annoying thing is that now the CAC services have completely taken over
the Pismo, from logging in to screen savers, etc. This is not desirable
to me. All I really need is to be able to securely browse using Mozilla
or something and be able to log into NMCI websites, such as
webmail.nmci.navy.mil. I do not need to lock down my computer. I know
that it is possible to use the CAC services for browsing alone on the PC
side (I do it at work everyday on my Dell). So my question is, can I do
it with OS X.3? If not, has this been taken into account for Tiger?
Having to lock down my home Mac in order to use CAC services is not
acceptable since I alone have a CAC card (not my kids and wife), and
others would like to be able to use it when I am away or at work. And
since the screen savers are also CAC protected when CAC services are
enabled, this is not possible.
Thanks,
LCDR Greiner
