Title: Re: [Fed-Talk] Apple on Intel Processors
The main thing that makes me think Apple might make this switch is the fact that I think it would be a bad move. I said the same thing when I heard that Steve was going to kick to Motorola to the curb and stop them from building mac clones. Motorola was at the time, the company that provided the processors for all Apple computers. Seemed to me to be a clear “bite the hand that feeds you move,” but look where Apple went from there. Clearly I was wrong then, it was the right move..
Why Apple should consider this? (My Theories)..
Intel will contribute a bunch of cash to help drive sales of these new boxes
Apple gets an immediate option for a more powerful mobile/portable processor
Apple gets to permanently retire the my 3.XGHz processor is faster than your processor talk
Why Apple should not consider this move.
Apple is a big fish in the PPC business, how big a customer they will be to Intel?
Apple looses the PowerPC marketing "differentiator" true or not
It will destroy sales in the short run (leading into their year end)
Who would buy a PPC PowerMac after this is announced?
Apple has been and is now a hardware company, that makes phenomenal software. Maybe the hardware wizards at Apple have found some magic and can make Intel’s chips work better on Apple designed boards? Is this the time for Apple to make a huge platform shift? I going to see Steve on Monday and find out..

I am certainly not crazy about this from a technical perspective. It is too early for April Fools.
