pwpolicy was added to the client side in support of the
requirements for Common Criteria Certification. Apple provides
the required functionality and documentation in the CC Admin Guide
to perform those modifications necessary for the CAPP/EAL3
Certification.
Limited pwpolicy IS available and IS _Officially_ supported to
that degree.

Thanks Shawn, can you elaborate on what OS versions this applies
to, or how it varies by version? I'm guessing that last sentence
should say "to that degree in Tiger". Especially since your lead in
the server group has already said the opposite about Panther. I
won't see Tiger on the desktop until next year. Even if the agency
pushes us to it there is no budget unless they site license it
(pipe dream).
Mark,
Common Criteria Certification was 'officially' for Mac OS X 10.3.6
and Mac OS X Server 10.3.6. The corresponding CCTools need to be
installed and includes pwpolicy which is identical from 10.3.6 thru
10.4.x. Users/Admins need to install the CCTools for the
corresponding OS version in use - There are CCTools (install) for
10.3 (10.3.6-10.3.9) and a separate CCTools (install) for 10.4
(10.4.0 - 10.4.1 current).
For more clarifying information and access to the CCTools and
CCAdminGuide go to:
Common Criteria Introduction
http://www.apple.com/support/security/commoncriteria/
Especially since your lead in the server group has already said the
opposite about Panther.
Not sure what was said or referenced here....
The above should clarify any questions you had on this, but if it
does not, let me know.
